nice to see you found another amp

The marantz is a really nice player (and it's OSE brother, like the one I have is even better), but I don't know if a regular 5001 could compare to a CA azur 640. Although I more like the marantz sound, I think the azur 640 will have better detail & stuff...

but check them out. And since you have the 640 in your budget, the 5001OSE shouldn't be a problem

    Keep them spinning,
    Bert.

    Thanks so much Bert!
Really, the Marantz CD5001 is a bargain, its going for around 270 Singapore dollars, and seems the best for the money... The Azur640 is actually not in my budget, so i think the Marantz should be the one... Lemme know if there is any big difference between the OSE and the regular. Thanks!

Hey tony, good to see you posting again.

Just an observation, but it seems as if the Cambridge unit turns out to be a "stepping stone" for most folks. It seems as if most that have purchsed the 640 over the last couple of years have moved onto something else, while the majority of those who grabbed the Marantz have kept it for the long haul, or until they made a major upgrade...FWIW.

By the way, congratulations on the amp purchase as well.

    Peace

So, I broke into the palace

I said : "That's nothing - you should hear me play piano"

Bobsticks is correct. I have had the Marantz CD5001 for a year and a half and through several equipment upgrades. I am still pleased with the sound. When I upgrade from the Marantz I think I will have to spend $1,000 or more for a noticeable improvement.

Go with the Cambridge 640c, it has a more open transparent sound with more detail.

So here is the thing, the Marantz CD5001 is going for a mere USD180 and its seems to me a pretty good bargain! Otherwise the other options are way more pricey... So if the majority of u say yes, i will go ahead and buy it today, since i have no way of auditioning it!
