HDMI or component video cables
I tried to do a search on this but there were "technical difficulties". I have a Samsung 56 inch DLP with 16 feet of component video cables that go to my Yamaha reciever. The Yamaha does the switching for all of my video signals ( I love this feature). But, I was told I should definately go with HDMI cables directly to my t.v. from my HDTV box instead of going to the receiver and then the component cables. Has anyone with a similar setup actually seen a difference? I like not switching between video inputs but if the picture will improve, I'll do it.
No noticeable difference in my experience..
If your Yamaha will switch component sources, I'd go with component. I have a 46" inch dlp and notice no difference in video quality. As an fyi, there have been a number of quality issues associated with the Samsung HDMI connection. I thought I beat this issue but without warning, the picture went bad with hdmi. The picture turned into something that looks like a Photoshop effect. I tried reseating the connections, used compressed air to blow things out, all to no avail.
