    dying dvd player?

I use my dvd player as my source, and have been getting random crackle while listening, usually combined with some skipping, I believe (and hope) that it is the dvd player and not my amp or speakers. Does this sound like dvd player issues, and is there any way to know for sure? any help greatly appreciated!

Well, the way to know for sure is to hook up a different source and see if it continues. But if you hear CD-like skipping that would hint at the player (or a marred CD). Is DVD playback also effected?
