    DVD Player Fan
In my daily audio messsing about, I tried using my Toshiba HD DVD player as a transport for a external dac. Seems to work well for that, if one is willing to put up with player functions are extremely slow to initiate, Anyway, a negative is the fan on the unit. It is annoyingly loud. Can I disable the fan?.... or am I asking for trouble. Cheers and thanks, dk

Consumer electronics are designed with the worst case scenario in mind. The worst case is usually a cabinet full of other hot electronics. If your DVD player is in the open outside a cabinet you may be able to get by with less cooling. You could put a speed controller on the fan or replace it with an external larger but slower fan and quieter fan.

Sounds like a lot of trouble. Have you ever considered digital transport?
