Digital or Analog??

can someone please clear this up for me.

all i need is a digital connection from my sound card to my receiver to play mp3's and watch movies (talking the audio only here) i have downloaded that have mp3 or AC-3 sound?
no need for analog right?

sound card is a Soundblaster Live 5.1
receiver is a Yamaha RX-V795a

ok i'll answer my own post. i've connected from the S/PIDF out 3.5mm stereo of the sound card and gone into the coaxial of the receiver. i used standard 75ohm coax cable and everything works awesome. no need for analog at all.
