Basicaly people who are audiophiles are very obsessed with audio. But usualy those people have alot of money and are able get the top line stuff but for people like me who are in a budget they try out as many speakers as they want to see which they like the most out of them all. So in a way people who are real true audiophiles geeks have OCD since they are soo much into audio.
Anyone who trades out speakers daily has gone beyond a love of audio and straight into serious mental problems... Despite, what some on this site may say.... constantly needing to upgrade/tweak your system is not a good thing... also the main difference between what you are doing and what other so called 'audiophiles' do, is that they actually UPGRADE... You just keep trading crap for similar crap... In order to find something better, you need to save up a little money... be patient.... and get something better... just swapping one pair of computer speakers for another is not going to accomplish anything...

I was just letting you guys know what kind of speakers I tried and listened to at home. Remember I' am still young and still learning about all kinds of speakers and how they work. I just get impressed on how each speakers work and how each speakers have pros and cons. When I say that these are the best speakers I' am just saying that they are the best so far I heard at the moment for the price but then when I try new speakers I see there pros and cons and I say the next one is better since I hear more mids or highs etc. But so far for $60 I think the Philips is the best since they sound truly clear and also very powerful compaired to most PC speakers. I like PC speakers since they don't have much wires and they use less power and it's easier to use and set up. When I use to have a receiver and speakers the receiver was heavy and the speakers were heavy and when I want to move them to clean around them it was harder and it also took alot of space on my desk. Yes the JBL S26 was way better than the Philips I have since it cost more than twice as much plus they had bigger drivers but I like PC or multimedia speakers since they are just simple. I want to save space and get the best sound ever like how my JBL sounded. So far the closest speakers to the JBL I had 4 years agao is these Philips MMS321/17. Maybe Philips will make a better updated compact speakers that is better than what I have and have more deep low low bass since that's the only cons about these speakers I have now. The mid lows, mids, and highs are great just these don't have that low low rumble feeling bass but of cource since it doesn't have a sub but maybe in the future thay will make an improved PC speakers that will have more low bass without a sub. I like to have speakers without sub the most since then it won't take up space.

Mayne, I joke around with Sir T 'bout it, but none more of that badboy tekilla for this guy. Too many bad experiences,,,plus it makes me mean as hell. There are several situations that I'd better not relate due to statutes of limitations that have convinced me that is one libation I best avoid.
But I got some Green Wiki fer you too though huckleberry...

Not to mention all the time he is wasting. He think to get a good syatem, he have to spend over $300 or $400 which is not true. All he have to do is add another $50 to his current $100 budget and buy from couple of $150 systems (one of them is from Kilpsch) which Bestbuy carry. It will have more power, and a sub.

You don't have put sub in front of you or on desk to hear it. Since they are not directional, it is usually recommended to put it on floor next to your computer station (or underneat the desk).

Remember Smoke, this is coming from the guy that was complaining that his JBL bookshelf speakers were too heavy to move while cleaning.

Not tryin' to be mean Festus, but would you like me to send you a TI Speak-n-Spell?

Please don't. If I use it, I will lose my seniority at the watercooler in Happy Acres :hand:

Maybe we are the ones who are a little slow. We already know that he is not going to take advise, yet we keep giving it.
We know that he's not going to save up for better speakers, but yet, we keep telling him to do just that.
We know that next week he will buy another set of $100 computer speakers, be we still get upset with him.
Maybe it's time that we just accept him for who he is. Next week he will be excited about a new set of Radio Shack speakers he found. They will be the best ever because the Salesman and the specs told him so. A week later he will move on to another set and be equally happy with those, for a while.
Spanky,
At the risk of giving advise that won't be listen to, the reason many get upset is because they want to help you. They take time out of their day to think up the best advise they can give you to help you out. Then often you don't even comment on their advise. You just post another question or go on about a new set of speakers. People don't want to work so hard only to be ignored. It might help if you at least responded to everyone's advise. Even when you don't agree, you could tell us why you don't agree. People will not be as upset at you if they know you are paying attention to them.
I know that you are not ready to have a job, but I've seen your website. You have a talent that people will pay you for. Maybe instead of a normal "job" you could just take on a task for someone. A task of helping someone with their website. Maybe your parents or friends might know someone who could use your help. Just one time to see how it goes. You never know. You may end up liking it. And the next thing you know, You'll have a better sound system that most of the other members here. Doesn't that sound like a whole lot of fun?

Let's review
-
All this proves is that:
1) He loves audio equipment.
2) He likes to upgrade as often as possible.
3) He likes to share his experiences with us.
4) He doesn't necessarily want us to make any comments other than, "Gee, those look terrific." & "How do they sound?"
5) He didn't know that our site was (and is) running at, a PG13 and under, rating only.
The Defense suggests that he is just a little slow in some areas but means no harm. Also adding that without Spank, many of our lives, and certainly this site, would not be as interesting. He has been an unwitting source of much enjoyment over the years.

I guess that it's a good thing that courts are not run by public opinion.
-
Maybe I should start a poll on whether or not to delete him? I think it would be a great first poll for me. What does everybody think?
-
Poll away. My guess is that you'll get a few for, a few against and a few who will say that it's in bad taste to start a thread about another member. (Remember? That's when PS's rep fell like a stone.) Maybe if you threw in a few, "This is all just for fun" comments you'd be ok.
-
Or maybe I'll just take my concerns offline.

You won't get many votes that way.

Oh look! I just found a thread in the Steel Cage started by compacguy in Feb '07:
http://forums.audioreview.com/steel-cage/spankingvanillaice-troll-21861.html
You were his PD way back then too GM. Doesn't it seem kind of odd that a year & 1/2 later you're still defending the very same things that he did that people labelled him as a troll for? It's a cycle with this kid. Every 3 - 4 months for 1 & 1/2 years he starts the same discussions, gets people pissed off at him, cries that his feelings are getting hurt, threatens to leave, comes back and starts all over again. Please.
-
I have been to his website. There is no doubt in my mind that he is what he claims to be. I don't think that he has a mean bone in his body.
I can understand why you would feel differently. I just disagree.
-
and I'll quote myself from the wayback machine

He has come around a huge amount these last rounds. He's actually saving for better speakers!
He doesn't force any of you to post. And, just because you post doesn't mean he'll all of a sudden listen.
I mean, I don't listen to half of you all either..
methinks the problem is in the mirror...

As much fun as might be to ban Spanky, I don't think we actually have sufficient evidence to support a conviction...
HOWEVER...
My vote to solve the problem of him creating multiple threads over the same nonsense (which is the main reason he gets so much attention) is for the mods to limit him to just 1 thread on his adventures with swapping out computer speakers... Then we can all either read and laugh or ignore that 1 thread....

First of all SVI has not done enough to be banned. He came close once but took care of the issue. He misunderstood what people were asking. Luckily no one is removed by poll. If this site becomes a popularity contest can you imagine how it would become even less about audio. I am sorry but member X will have to be banned because his system is not expensive enough. Member Y asks the same question too many times. Member Z is from Texas.
I tease about banning him but I am only teasing. I am amazed how some sites ban people because they disagree with the mods. I think all interested parties and opinions should be welcome here. As long as they are respectful to others. I have let comments roll off my back and never thought of banning someone, well not for very long. After all SVI is a bit of a draw around here.
