    Nero 7

I just installed Nero 7 yesterday and was pleased to find an unexpected benefit. There is a significant improvement in sound quality over Windows Media. Is there some unmentioned sound compression or eq (I am running all graphic eq at flat on WMP) that would account for this? I had assumed that for any real improvement I would have to invest in a new souncard, and I still may, but I guess I am just surprised at how inferior WMP and Real Player sound in comparison to N7...

    how bout it now.

that's what they say in Alabama instead of good morning.

Sticks, I burn a lot of stuff. The Nero I have has been trouble free for a long time, even at high burn speeds. Attributing an improvement to the burn software is interesting. Speciffically what kind of sound improvement do you notice? also, what did you pay for the Nero 7 if you don't mind the question. dk

    Hey davie-t,

After a minute or two to play with the thing I have come to a few tentative conclusions.
I say tentative because because I am not a computer guy and they operating them is not an intuitive process for me. I purchased this to make backup copies for the car and office ( sick of carrying around a duffle of discs)
I am using the Nero 7 Ultimate Edition-Enhanced, and yes I did buy it. This sucker promises to be more than just burn software, having a variety of cataloging and playback features. Thus far, however, I am not overly impressed, although I will freely allow the possibilty of user error of tragic proportions.
The included media player is pretty sub-standard and the speed of access to one's catalog is poor. I have found the RealPlayer to be easier and more natural to use. I think my first reactions may have been of the knee-jerk assortment-- the old a-phool trap of volume tomfoolery. I suspect that the Nero has louder output into the amp than the WMP. I am still not entirely convinced that Windows Media doesn't do some funky things with frequencies even when eq'ed flat, but that can wait for another day and determination.
I'm gonna need some more time to fight this thing before I can draw any substantive conclusions about sq, vq, overall ease of use, etc. Sorry for the wind up...
