a good cd player under 300???

    Hi all,

    Components so far:

    1) Outlaw RR 2150 stereo receiver
    2) Monitor Audio RS 6 speakers

I need a new cd player. Not gonna play dvds or SACDs. Any advice would be really helpful. I know there are NAD, Cambridge Audio, and Marantz, among others in this range. How are they different? Does it even matter with the components I have so far?

    Thanks!!!

    Marty

Marantz would be my pick at that price point. I've owned both the marantz CD5001 and the previous NAD model and I prefered the Marantz.

What are you currently using as source?

another vote for the Marantz CD5001 here...

I have the OSE version, but compared them both, and compared them to more expensive players, and they actually did very well compared to them...

    Keep them spinning,
    Bert.

If you like a more transparent sound with very good high frequency sound, consider the Music Hall 25.2 CDP over the Marantz, if you can spare the extra cash. It cost more and I have seen it for as low as $499.

you can pick up the marantz at audiophileliquidator.com for 230 bucks plus shipping I believe. If you go that route its not a bad discount. I also reccommend it.

If you check out that site you will see that they are not an authorised dealer so you will not receive the Marantz warranty. Just a heads up.
