DAC (optical) suggestions

howdy guys.

I am working on a 2ch system for my bedroom/computer room and would like to use an old pioneer cd changer which works fine, but the onboard DAC isn't up to par next to my marantz sacd player, or denon 2805 even...
this pioneer cd changer has digital optical out (but no digital rca)...

Could you suggest a good DAC, (prebuilt or a kit...)

btw, I'm planning on using Von Schweikert VR-1's, an anthem PVA-2, and a B&K PT3 preamp in addition to the pioneer cd changer.

A couple DAC's you can find used for under $500.00 that are exceptional for the money is the EAD dsp-7000 and most any of the Conrad-Johnson's. You'd have to double check for optical input.
