Synergistic Research, Cord, I.C's in the house....

I got a pair of S.R., Cord, Silver, 1 meter/$245/pr, a couple of days ago. All the accolades bestowed on this S.R. product is well deserved. Most astonishing to me is where this I.C. picks up where the W.W. Electra power cord leaves off.

No, the S.R. is not a power cord but it sure delivers as if it doubles as one. The bass delivery is incredible with the S.R. and it can feel and sound as if somehow a powered sub-woofer mysteriously injects itself into the presentation as needed. The background is dark and warm but the notes of the music are neutral with insight and no straining to hear anything. Cohesive, and a great match from my hybrid Qinpu and Dali speakers.

No smearing, no bloat orbleed over, and no tizz/fizz. I only have 24 hours of burn time on the S.R. and it supposedly take 100 hours. I will know more by this time next week.

    Congrats Leroy!

Many people do not know just how good SR cables are. I acquired both SR Kaleidoscope II ICs ($300/pr new in early 90s) and Synergistic Signature 2 speaker cables ($1400 new in 90s - 16') when I purchased the system in my signature. The previous owner was my neighbor who originally had everything cabled with Kimber PBJs and 8TC. You want to talk about lacking in bass and many other places. Once swapped out for all SR cabling, this system came alive.

I had been using all mid range Tara Labs cables and tried a few in place of the SRs from time to time but always put the SRs back quickly. They outperform all my Tara and Audioquest cables by a long shot.

Thanks Hyfi. Ya, I know what you mean by the system coming alive with the SR in play. Do you feel the S.R. speaker cable delivers performance like the I.C''s. do?

Ya, the Qinpu performance is incredible. Easily drives my 88DB Dali Ikon 2 mk2 but struggles a bit with the System Audio Aura 1. The Q should easily blast the Nola's since I used the original T-amp on the Nola's without any problem.

I will send you an e later.

LeRoy, is there any sibilace with those cables? How is the transparency and sound stage?. I am looking for a warmer cable that has a nice top end with out sibilance. I currently use BJC's which can be sibilant on some recordings. I bought a pair of used Tara Labs RSC Axiom's and they are junk. Overtly bright sounding. I have been talking to Frechmon about Analysis Plus IC's and I am going to have to give them a try.

Do you know if SR has a money back return policy? I thought that I read that somewhere? If so, then it would be worth it for me to try a pair. $245 is a lot to spend if you do not like them.

    Thanks,

    Larry

    Hi Larry,

I've yet to encounter any sibilance with the S.R. cables. Since I got them in I've run them for nearly 50 hours with a variety of music and no sibilance yet. I find the soundstage to be more wide rather than deep and transparency is at this point the best i've ever heard.

I actually had to call S.R. directly to find a dealer in Texas. There were only 2 and I wound up calling Home | Krystal Clear Audio Video | Hear the sound in your home before you buy.

Don, at kcaudio, advised of 30 days return policy and if i can recall correctly he also has an upgrade policy. I will send you a P.M. with more info.

Gonna be honest, I have not played with the speaker cables since I got the whole setup. I use my Tara Labs Prism wires in another setup between Stratos and Dyn 42s for a big improvement over braided Radio Shack wire.

The ICs clearly change the sound for the better.

Look into The Cable Company here in New Hope PA. They have all kinds of trial policies.

Hyfi, thanks for the tip about the cable co. I have been to their site before but never really gave them much thought. I may give them a try since they have a return policy minus 5% of the total cost of the cable. I am also going to fill out their free system consultation just to see what they say for kicks!

Cool, good luck. I actually visited them when they first opened up years ago and they also sold some gear and had a showroom. Impressive amount of cables both new and used.
