speaker wire & banana plug combo (Sound King & Dayton Audio)

i'm trying to wire up the speakers on my onkyo hts760 system.
i've mostly settled on this combo for my speaker cables (100 ft of wire for 6 speakers - $90)...

wire: 12 GA Sound King speaker wire 100 ft. (# 100-155)

these choices are based on a lot of research at this site and others, budget considerations, and an honest look at my needs and level of interest. these choices are not set in stone. i'm looking for feedback

1. most people seem to suggest the Dayton Audio side mounted (#091-1255) banana plugs. http://www.partsexpress.com/pe/showd...umber=091-1260. for space and esthetic reasons i prefer the rear wire type ones (# 091-1165). am i making a foolish mistake? should i just go with the recommended ones?
2. are Pin connectors the best option for the connection @ the speaker or is this overkill? does anyone have any suggestion on a specific brand of pin connector or a suggestion on a completely different alternative?

Actually, either spade lugs of banana plugs provide more contact area and probably a more secure connection than pin plugs.

Not to mention that bananas are much easier to insert on the back of HT receivers where real estate is quite limited.

Given the choice, I would explore either of these other options.

mark - thanks for the reply. i'm not sure if i fully understand though. i AM planning on using banana plugs @ the receiver end (i.e. these Dayton Audio banana plugs @ parts express)). unfortunately the speakers that come with the Onkyo HTS760 have spring clips, so if i understand correctly my only options on the speaker end are pins or bare wire. right?

If you only have spring clips, then your choices are extermely limited. With spring clips, I'd go with bare wire, stripped to ONLY the hlength needed to insert, and twisted tightly. I specify bare bacause the bare copper is somewhat more mallable than a pin plug and will perhaps make a better contact.
