Need you help...and input please

We just got a new sub...no longer the accoustimass module....currently Im only running a cheap rca cable from the sub out to the sub. Can I get away with buying Recoton gold plated audio cable ( the one I have now is silver color) and buy a Y adapter buy recoton as well...I know I dont want to spend the xtra cash on Monster.....first of all should I do this buy new cables....and second....will the Y adapter make a difference ?? if it does how and why. the other option is Ratshack cables......

As long as the cable is in good condition, keep using it. Brand of the cable is not important. You don't need a Y adapter either. That will only make it louder, but you can turn up the gain for that. Enjoy your new sub!
