    Smile HDMI Cables

I am having BB hook up my new system tomorrow and I had the dish people out today to get HD set-up. My question is the BB people had me buy some $100 monster cables [HDMI] for the dish and the Blu-Ray, and then another from Receiver to TV.
My question is the dish people and the Blu-ray came with HDMI cables and will I see the difference using the monster cables?
Any help will be appreciated as I am totally out of my comfort zone.

The TV is a 52" KDL-XBR3 and the receiver is a Sony STR DA 5200ES.

    Thanks

Short answer is no. You don't need to spend that kinda money on HDMI cables to get good results. The supplied cables are probably fine but you can always pick up some very decent cables from here. Save yourself some money and take those Monster cables back.

These would work just as good as the Monsters at 1/20th the cost.

I find that the top of the line Monster HDMI cables (about $160) are superior to the other standard HDMI cables I've purchased at my local electronics store. QED Qunex HDMI are very good also. Ixos (don't know if I spelt that right) sell the best HDMI cable at the moment according to a recent test in HiFiChoice. What I've noticed with my monster calbe is better colour and contrast control, and richer more vibrant colour. I have these hooked up to my Sony SXRD 70XBR2 and Qualia 006 sets and the difference is immediately noticable.

$500 for 3 cables? That's probably what he paid for his BR player

    hdmi

I have a $40 phillips hdmi cables and I have seen the dvd "glitch" when in hdmi mode. When in component mode, no glitch? Now just for giggles, I went and got Monster hdmi cables and the same thing happened but probably not as noticeable, but still the same, it happened. My question is, why are my movies "glitching" when in hdmi mode?
    Any replies welcome

    Thanks

yeah, it flickers? or hesitates just a bit. almost like it's trying to catch up to itself. I don't know, that's why i'm hoping you guys may have had or seen the problem.

Sounds like a player problem to me. Especially if you had the same problem using 2 different cables. What are you using? How is everything connected?

it's by no means top of the line and I have thought of that being the problem and unfortunately I don't have another hdmi dvd player to try out. Anyway, to answer your question, my dvd player is the JVC TH-C60 and tv is the panasonic CT-34WX54.

Does this happen throughout the entire film or just the very beginning?

If it's a concern you could always go pick up a 2nd player at Circuit City and take advantage of their return policy or borrow a player from a friend.

You may also want to do a search of your model and see if you can find any info on issues others may be having.

You can also try resetting your player.

ok, thanks. I think I'll just have to do the trial and error thing. I can live with it, but I'll probably have to change back over to component till I find the problem

    Thanks again
