This is my last entry. I was hopeing for more feedback and communication but there is none so I will look elsewhere for a "community" It has been fun to write down thoughts but to do so without a reply is like being alone in a dark room - no fun.
But what I did last is I installed the Pedersen upgrade for my Gyro and my level of sound quality when up few levels to a place where I have not been at before. I am so happy with my vinyl sound at the moment that I have not turnd the cd player on fore some time now.
I wish you all happy hi-fi times.

Ok - fun time ahead. My Gyro is undergoing a BIG upgrade in few days.
It is a Gert Pedersen upgrade and I will also put to use some isolator between pick up and arm.
I will talk more about all this soon. |

Yes it is. But it can be a pain. I just got tube damper and they work. And now I got this Clear Audio metal ring that goes on the edge of the lp on the turntable. Yes it works but it also calls for new springs on my Gyro. One upgrade can open new doors and sometimes doors your where not about to open. Anyway - my sound is so good and I thought at one point that I could not go a lot further but one can. So I e-mailed Gert Petersen in Denmark but he makes some wonderful "spring" upgrades for the GyroDec and I will have some in few weeks. But the lp sound is so good at the moment that I have not turned my cd player on.So it can be fun to go back to that big old record collection and play some old friends - again. |

That's what we all want. Just came back from London where I picked up 2 new things. Cool damper is one. They are interesting but I still do not understand if there is just 1 size or 2 but the size I bought fits on my 5965 tube (12axv) but does not fit on 6sn7 that I needed one for as well. And I also got The Cartridge Man Isolator but I will wait for my friend to help me out with that one.
But I did fit the Cool damper on the 5965 tube and sat down.
And I am glad that I was sitting down because the sound in my system is really good but what makes the big difference I guess is the 4 monos set up.
Well I have Shangling sp-80 EL-34 based amps that I like. And then I got home made 845 based amps that I like as well. I call them Kosta Monos. I run the Kosta on my mid and his on my Usher 6381 with Kimber 3033 cable. This sounds good because the Kosta (845) is fast and open. But the Shangling (EL-34) is not as fast so to use it with the Kosta I needed to come up with a trick to help. I did try few thins but then I called my friend who knows more about cables than most people and he told me to try a solid copper 1.5 (stiff - hard) wire. And I stopped by at a local store that sells wire and first I wanted to buy just what I needed for my experiment (12 x 3 m aprox) but I could only buy 200 meters so I did and for this I paid 65$ dollar approx. Took it home and to cut a long story short I tried first a single run of wire and man was the base good, I hear more notes and better separation. Then I added 2 wires to each plug (3 x 1.5) and I got deeper bass but maybe lost a little focus. The next step is to twist the wires and or use the Ferro cubes I have to work on the RF in the cable. Anyway this is working like a dream and in London I bought the Elvis Presley album He's Back where de does Fever (recorded 2nd of April 1960) and it sounds better that anything I have heard before. So what I have is a very expensive wire for one signal and very cheap wire for the otter and together this works very nicely.
I am waiting for tube damper for the 845 tube but there is a ring in the amp that I want to get rid of, there is a new cable from the arm to the phono stage somewhere - careball feet are somewhere in the post (for the 845 amp or ...) so few things happening but the sound is good and life is fun |

I will put to use a new rack that a carpenter next door made for me and I will report and put some photos on the site for you to see. And after that the only thing I need to do (humm have I said that before ?) is to put in some copper "walls" that I will ground to separate any one item from the other

I had a very strange problem with my M-24 Monarchy D/A converter. And the good people at Monarchy did very little to help. After few e-mail and silly replays I ended up helping my self and paid a top dollar for repair. I will never buy any Monarchy gear again and will not recommend them to anyone because if your are in some distance from them I guess the sale is the only thing they care for. Sad. |

Well it is good to be back
After the x-mas rush at the studio it is finally time to do some fun stuff like paying attention to the hi-fi. My ever changeing hi-fi has a new addiction. Just before x-mas I got a new set of mono blocks that are hand made for me and use the 845 tube. The post was not very gentle to them and they are all banged up but work ok. First when I hooked them up they sounded a little crunchy on the edge but after few hours of play they did smooth out and today they sound just wonderful. They go higher and lower than the Shangling and they have a very different sound character. But now I run my new monos on the high and minds and use the Shangling for the bass. The new monos give a lot more power so I use 2 Rothwell In-Line Attenuators
( fhttp://www.rothwellaudioproducts.co.uk/html/inline_attenuators.html ) from my friend Rothwell to tune down the signal and then I use the vol. control in the Shangling for the fine tuning. And how does this sound ? .. I wish I could invite you all. |
