    Home Brew Sub
    The Plan
is to to build a 15" sub using a sealed design. I will power with my NAD amp in mono mode. The question is 'what should be the impedence of the speaker?' Can i use a 4ohm speaker (i think the amp 'sees' 1 ohm in mono mode this way - jah?) or do i need to use an 8 ohm speaker? Or in mono mode the impedance is whatever the speaker is - so no problem? I believe NAD is stable to 1 ohm...

    Thanks!

If you have your amp bridged to mono and connect it to a 4ohm sub, it will be the same as if your amp was connected to two 2ohm speakers in stereo. Likewise, if you connect an 8ohm sub it will be like two 4 ohm stereo. From what I can tell, your amp will do 400W RMS, 1200W peak. That should work very well with a 15" Dayton Titanic.

I plan to do the cube. The basement/ManCave is pretty big and forgiving.
