    cheapest SET kit out there?
lets assume for a second that i get decent grades next period (instead of flunking three subjects...) and my parents unfreeze my cashflow.
What single ended triode amp kits are there BELOW 500 bucks? i'm looking for the cheapest SET that will actually produce an adequate signal. Mainly i just want it for the buzz of having a valve amp.
Also, what kind of knowledge or skills do i need? i'm pretty handy with the soldering iron, but my knowledge of electronics is VERY limited, and my knowledge about amp design is nonexistant.
    thanx!

Bottlehead's produces a small two channel experimenters kit called the SEX amp. It was just released only a few months ago. There is high demand on Doc Bottleheads kits and the first run of SEX amps were sold almost immediately.

i've built a couple of their kits and I think their designs are excellent. They've also got a forum and community that will answer questions quickly and effectively. Better than any technical support line. In addition, the community encourages modification and experiementation so you get to see what others have tried and what's failed.

    Check out their website.
