I was wondering if anyone here has a Polk Audio RM6900 and can comment on the subwoofer quality. Would it be worth it to buy the voice-matched center, front and surround speakers separately and add a Polk PSW505 subwoofer instead of the sub that comes with the kit? I really like the look of the RM6900 and it seems to be getting rave reviews for its sound quality.

Personally, I wouldn't do the RM6900 - although I haven't heard it. Depends on what your needs are and how much room you have (i.e. sattelite's vs. bookshelfs). This sub is different than anything I've seen and the Polk subs I have heard were not impressive. I would stick to a matched set of bookshelf, surrounds and a center. Then add a sub as time/money permits. I mean the 6900 is like $1,000. You have a lot of options out there in that price range. I would stick with a sub from SVS, HSU, Velodyne or possibly Infinity.

I just recieved my Polk Audio order from Crutchfield last night. I went with the RTi4's and FXi3 surrounds (big), and will add the CSi3 Center soon and prolly a SVS sub later on down the road. Crutchfield has a $150 Gift Card offer if you buy $500 of Polk Audio right now. Check em out.

Just my 2 cents.

The room itself is pretty big but I would like the speakers to be low-profile which is why I was looking at the satellite systems. I figure I can get the whole system (in pieces) with a nicer sub for under $1000 when taking into account the $150 discount. The question then becomes, which sub to get, which is what brought me here.

I would get a Velodyn 10" or 12" if it was in the budget. If not, the Infinity PS10 or PS12.

Actually now I am looking at the SVS 20-39PCi, it seems like a bargain for only $100 more than the Polk I was considering. What do you think? Will it match this system well?
