I just had to ask. During my recent bout of research for speakers I came across this in eBay: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=5746765804

The phrase, " If it seems too good to be true; it is" came to mind. I could find no info on this co. or anyone that had heard of them. My guess is Theater Research is running the auction and has set up the web-site to back up their ridiculous pricing claims. I'm mean come on, if you had a $5000 set of speakers would you really sell them for $300.

Has anyone ever head these speakers or heard of the co.
FWIW, I'm not considering buying them but just had to ask.

I did a Google search and the words "scam" and "white van" came up in a large percentage of the listings. I also looked at his feedback (98%) and saw scam there as well. You have to admit "beauty is in the eye of the beholder" because there were also many positive feedback results. There are a lot of people who want a surround system, but don't want to spend the money, or are more easily satisfied than posters on this site. I do have a problem with them advertising the system as $5000 retail, but also can't understand why someone would pay $2000+ for audio cables. The retail reflects the price the company would like to get, not necessarily the value of the item. It's a marketing ploy; people feel they're getting over on the company if they get large discounts. Many companies would be very happy with a 98% approval rate.

Theres more'n one born every minute. Just a little research that's all it takes. The people that buy these systems I'm sure are coming from a "boom box" or worse background sooo compared to what they have these speakers might seem like the best bargain since the Louisianna Purchase. Sad part is, most of em will never ever know they been had.

Well, I don't know how deceptive the claim on the ad is... After all, it reads "Hight End Speakers." Now if it said they were high-end, *that* would be a lie... ;-) Now I just have to figure out what a Hight End speaker sounds like...

uhm i have to disagree... they would be getting had if they were paying 2k for those speakers. but i must admit that if they do match the picture, and he's not lying about the actual specs 300 bux sounds like a pretty decent price.
The only problem is that its misleading publicity concerning the MSRP, but otherwise, i think its a fair price.

White Van speakers. Even at $300 dollars, this isn't a good deal because these speakers have about $25 worth of parts in them.

Run away.

Another Chinese speaker. Chinese goods are cheap. This is why everything is made in China now. Retailers / American companies with overseas manufacturing can still make huge profits selling the goods at normal prices. This brand is bought and sold by the white van folks. Seems like some of the Chinese manufacturers are looking towards marketing their goods in the US, rather than just building things for other companies.

Think you get what you pay for so long as you remember you didn't pay much. Probably wiser to save up for a better pair of speakers or buy smaller, higher quality ones. Some people aren't looking for the best possible sound quality.

Might turn into healthy competition in the speaker market if the quality comes up on some of these Chinese brands. Good for us!!! Think there are a plenty of speakers at Best Buy with $25.00 worth of parts in them.

I'm tempted to buy a pair of these just out of curiosity. Don't even have anywhere to put them though. http://www.overstock.com/?cid=23785&PAGE=PRODUCT&PROD_ID=738472&fp=F http://www.sdatgroup.com/

Interesting. I was taking my quote from a story done on White Van speakers on some new program like 20/20 a while ago. I still wouldn't buy them, but if you want to, by all means don't let me stop you.
