I'm curious if there is a difference between these two units. The $50 discrepancy between their respective MSRP's is negligible. Is the 1500 newer? Is there any reason to look at the rxv2400/2500's? The ten extra watts is certainly not worth it.

Any advise out there is appreciated.

The only difference between the 1400 and the 1500 that I could superficially discern is that the 1500 has macro-command with its remote and I don't believe the 1400 does. If you don't care about that, then it might not make sense to go with the 1500. I think if you can spend the extra money on the 2400/2500 you might wish to, simply to get the best possible receiver that you will own for however long and those models would be more feature rich and have better power handling.

My fiddling around with the 1500 showed me that it runs the YPAO calibration a bit faster as well, but not any better. I think the 1599 is just a small refinement of the 1400, not much in the way of significant improvments, and I agree that most people would probably be better off to snarf up a 1400 on clearance.
Problem is, with the popularity of that receiver, I don't see many big price discounts.
