I currently own an Adcom GCD-750. Will there be a difference if I buy a Yamaha universal player ($1,000) and a separate DAC for 2 channel music or should i buy a dedicated cd player. I can't connect a DAC to my Adcom because it doesn't have any digital outputs. It has a coaxial input so that another source can use its inboard DAC. Any suggestions?

System:

Monitor Audio S6
Musical Fidelity A3.2 integrated
Adcom GCD-750
Audioquest Cables

Universal Player + separate DAC will give you more options and probably better sound quality a the same price point. Buy the best DAC you can afford and then use the remainder on a decent player. remember once you have a DAC, analog output of the player is essentially redundant for most of the time.

Personally, since I'd be wanting the units for my hi-fi system -- not my HT -- I'd get a Sony dedicated SACD player, (i.e. no DVD), maybe the SCD-C2000ES, (Cdn$700). For the DAC a Benchmark DAC1, (US$1000), or maybe a Bel Canto DAC 2, (US$1300).
