hey i was messing around with the sound presure level meter.
i have precense speakers running in my set up and have the dialog lift setting on 4, whilst watching dvd's in the spetacle soundfield.
I messured sound on an explosive scene on a certain dvd and got 115-116 db at listening pos.
I then put back the dialog lift to 3 and put the same scene on. For some reason uknown to me I got 117db around 1.5 - 2db louder. I know 2db dosnt sound like much but just thought ide share. I knew straight away for some reason it was louder because i could feel the bass from the subbie vibrating the floor and room alot more., like a foot massage!.
Its like setting the dialog lift setting too high it takes some of the bass from the main speakers there fore they are not playing to thier full potential on that certian soundtrack.
but thats just what i thought., as i say i have no idea why but it is louder if you set the lift setting lower.
BTW the precense only work when you are listening in a dsp mode. not in normal or standerd pro logic or dolby digital.
