How To Connect Wire To Speaker Terminals

To connect wire to speaker terminals of BW LCR3 and BW DM-303 can I use the old way by inserting bare wire (copper part) into Red & Black knobs and turn clockwise or should I use bananna plug ? (tried to turn counterclockwise to open Red & Black knobs but couldn't ...) Thank you

I'd use banana plugs or spades. It's easier, cleaner, and might help abate corrosion to the exposed wire.
