My new A/V receiver has a crossover setup. Am I getting this correct?
If I set my crossover to 40, does this mean that the receiver will power the
main speakers down to 40, then anything below 40 directed to the sub.
One more question, does the crossover control all speakers in the setup, or just the mains?
Thanks all.

First answer, right on the mark. Second answer depends on whether you reciever has seperate crossovers for each channel, if not, then the single setting controls all speakers. I would not imagine that a single control covers all speakers, because that would mean that you would have to use large speakers for you surrounds, or you are in alot of trouble.
