Sony ES receivers are garbage. I had a V333ES receiver that had to be serviced 3 times and sent back to Sony for the fourth time before it was fixed properly. I bought one of the new digital receivers and was so disappointed by it's performance that I traded it in for the Denon AVR-3803 that I currently own and have been completely satisfied with. Your $400 would be better spent, IMO, on a brand new Yamaha or Denon receiver.

I second that.
3rd it!
For the same money you can get a nice Yamaha, Denon, H/K, Onlyo or Marantz that will have more features than the 4 year old Sony receiver and will probably be superior in every other area as well. For just a little more money you can probably still find a Yamaha RX-V1400 which listed for $799.00 when it came out and was just recently replaced by the RX-V2500. The 2500 only has a few minor upgrades and the 1400 still holds up against just about any receiver in it's class.
