Need suggestion on low cost reciever for 2nd small home theater

I have a spare room (10'X16') in which I've decieded to to make
into a second small home theater. Don't want to spend alot of
money 'cause I've spent thousands on my current home theater.
The main L/R speakers are going to be Boston Acoustics
Voyager 6 (outdoor speakers, but can be used indoors as well),
and I've just ordered an Dayton 10" 100w sub (on sale at
$100, normally $230 at Parts Express).
My next purchase will be the reciever (5.1) and of course
the TV (32" flat screen). I'll be listening in stereo for a while
before I pick up the center and surround speakers.
Budget for reciever is (5.1) is between $200/$300. That's
pretty cheap, but this is a budget production!
Brands that come to mind are Pioneer, Yahama, Onkyo.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.

If you can get a good price on 'em, Denon makes pretty fine units as well. Sometimes local B & M stires run unadvertised (no mail order) specials on some units. 6th Ave Electrinics in the NY metro area runs these quite frequently. I was able to score a NIB, fully warranted 2802 for $395 when the 2803's were introduced.

I'm running a Denon 1804 in a room of identical dimensions. Definitely an entry-level receiver, but it really gets the job done for my needs and has some sweet sound for the price. Regardless, at this price level, nothing is going to be out of this world - be sure you're focusing on the features that you need/want.

In researching the re-sell value of my 3802, I came across a few that were going for around $300-$450. I also checked other comparable units like the Onkyo 898, Marantz 7200, and Yamaha 1400. All were in that same price range. Granted, I've been out of the AV market for some time now, but I don't recall any major innovations in terms of actual audio reproduction that far outclasses these older units. In fact, most of the newer units seem to boast either audio/pc convergence features or built in room equalization. Not really that much of an innovative leap in my opinion. You might want to consider sweeping though www.audioweb.com or www.audiogon.com for a good deal. Just a thought.
