DVD Recording Question Is the clone as good as the source?

I'm transferring a bunch of my VHS Rock video tapes to DVD on my stand alone DVD recorder and making a couple of DVD copies for my friends as well. My question is this, if I record a DVD master from my source video tape on my stand alone DVD recorder, will the subsequant DVD copies I make from the new "DVD master" on my computer DVD burner setup, be as good as DVD copies I can make from my source VHS tape on my stand alone system? Hope this makes sense.

They should be identical as long as you're just doing a direct disc to disc copy.
