Ok so after several years of trying i've more or less gotten to understand how a normal transistor amp works (but it would still be appreciated if someone gave a concise explanation or a link to one) but i have NO idea how a digital amp works.
does it sample the signal, digitally boost it and then convert it to analog again? or does it split the signal, sample one part, analize it and then amplify the other part accordingly?
thanx!

A digital amp doesn't sample anything at all. Here (http://psaudio.com/articles/sdat.asp) is an article that will give you the gist of it. Now obviously, it's going to be biased towards PSA's own HCA2 and GCA switching amps, but the basics are explained in laymans terms and will hopefully clear things up.
