Whats the correct volume over the rest of the speakers?
Is setting the volume on the VelodyneCHT about one third a good starting point?
Thats about 9 or 10 db over the other speakers.
To me it sounds about right there.
Thanks for any help?

Are you using a SPL meter and test tone to measure the levels? Typically, you would set your subwoofer level at least 4 db above the level for the mains because human hearing is less sensitive in the bass range, and probably add at least 2 db more if you're using the Radio Shack SPL meter (the sensitivity of the mic on that unit drops off below about 100 Hz). If it sounds right to you, then that's where you should leave it.

I know this is going to piss off alot of people here and maybe you, but the correct volume and settings is the levels you like to hear CD's/DVD's/TV's best. I just paid to have a professional studio engineer suggest changes to my home theater settings, the guy was totally knowledgable and I respect what he said, but after everything was said and done, I reverted back to my original settings, which he thought were too bright and hot (subwoofer). He might be right but that's how I like listening to things the best. Go by your gut.
