I can get this unit for $270 now that the Yamaha RX-V650 is out. I am on a limited budget, so I am wondering if there is another unit out there better with this price? Also, the 550 is a 6.1 and the 650 is 7.1. Is this the only thing that seperates the two?

The RX-V650 also has the YPAO room calibration feature. Very handy if you're a newbie and haven't gotten around to buying a SPL meter and test disc yet.

That price you're quoting for the RX-V550 is unusually low. Sounds like an unauthorized mail order price to me. Prices usually don't go that low until they get discontinued and the 450, 550, 650, and 750 all came out early summer, so there's still a ways to go before their product cycle is up.

Keep in mind that Yamaha is very strict about enforcing their warranty policy, and they won't honor it if you buy from an unauthorized vendor.

MSRP on the 450 is $299. I bought one a few months ago. $270 for a 550 tells me something's up. Buy at your won risk with regard to warranty.

The offer is with quite a few websites. Etronics is the one I was quoting. I have bought from them on several times and have not had a problem. So your saying it is worth this price and them some right?

Yes, that would be a good price for the unit.
