Personally, I have to recommend Etronics.com. I have bought four items from them and they have always delivered on time. The prices are always really low but not always the lowest. I find myself going to them even when they are not the lowest because I have read horror stories with other online retailers. I was wondering who else has had very good experiences with other retailers that offer exceptional value

www.onecall.com is great.

Oddly enough, it seems like really nice middle of the road equipment is not really available online. You can find the cheap junk or a $10,000 turntable (and a $4000 needle for it) no problem but midrange stuff like Paradigm, DefTech, Boston Acoustics, PSB, or B&W are not available online. Just seems strange.

I've bought a lot from JandR.com (or jr.com) and audioadvisor.com. I Also bought a pair of PSBs from yawaonline.com for a good price many years ago.

Galen Carol Audio - Galen is an incredibly friendly guy, and the service is great.

The Stereo Trading Outlet - discounts Kimber Kable products 10%. I've always received prompt service from them, and gotten straightforward answers to my questions.

Here are some of the online stores I have bought consumer electronics from recently that I can recommend due to good service and prices. I have also noted some of the things I bought from them.

Amazon.com (http://www.amazon.com/): DVD player, speaker wall mounts, etc.
Ascend Acoustics (http://www.ascendacoustics.com/): speakers
Buy.com (http://www.buy.com/dept/electronics/111.html): various
eCost (http://www.ecost.com/ecost/ecce/): receivers
eTail Electronics (http://www.etailelectronics.com/): various
Etronics (http://www.etronics.com/): remote controls
HiFi for Less (http://www.hififorless.com/categories.php): cables & connectors
J&R (http://www.jr.com/): various
One Call (http://www.onecall.com/): receiver
Parts Express (http://www.partsexpress.com/): wire & connectors
SVS (http://www.svsubwoofers.com/): subwoofers
uBid (http://www.ubid.com/cat/get_cat_page.asp?CatID=2): various

One comment on uBid -- it is possible to get a bargain from them but only if you take note of the shipping cost, know the best price available elsewhere, and don't overbid.

I love AudioAdvisor for online retail. I mostly buy used off of ebay, but when I've gone new, AudioAdvisor has filled the bill. They also stock a lot of demo stuff cheap as well.

I've made several purchases from http://www.saturdayaudio.com, http://www.tsto.com and http://www.audioadvisor.com and have received excellent service, good pricing and a great selection of equipment to choose from. The first two offer used as well as new equipment.

If you do use Saturdayaudio say "hey" to Randy for me.

Whatever site you go with, just make sure that it's an authorized dealer. If you go with an unauthorized vendor, then you automatically forfeit the factory warranty and there's no guarantee that what gets delivered is a U.S. model or even a factory sealed unit. If you're willing to forego some of the certainty with having a factory warranty, then by all means hunt out the best deal regardless. But, when making your purchase, just remember that there is a risk and reward balance to consider.
