It seems that Yamaha is going to introduce two new receivers: RX-V2500 & RX-V1500.

Among the improvements of 1500 over 1400, I noticed introduction of a "Pure Direct" mode. What is the difference between this "Pure Direct" in 1500 and "Direct Stereo" in 1400?

Thanks

Shoot...for sale on ebay, my RX-V1400 $399, just pre-ordered my RX-V1500.

In all honesty, I suspect "Pure Direct" is the exact, 100% same thing as "Direct Stereo" mode, except Yamaha's now using the common indudstry terminology for this feature.
I could be wrong but my understanding was they were both the same thing anyway.

Wouldn't be the first time a receiver manufacturer renamed a feature and called it "new".

BTW, May I ask what is the main reason for this replacment? new features?

Shahrouz...

I was just joking buddy, not selling the RX-V1400, it's 99% the same as the 1500. I love it, great receiver...if you can get it cheaper when the RX-V1500 comes out, DO IT!!!!

This seems like a somewhat disappointing upgrade. A little bit more power, high sampling rate on the DTS Neo mode, improved stereo direct mode, refinements in the YPAO setup, and RS-232 connectivity. I was hoping that they would integrate DVI and HDMI switching into the new model.

But, the nice thing about this revision is that now the 1400 and 2400 are ripe for big time bargaining if you're in the market for a receiver.
