Which Amp

I have an onkyo 484 amp which sounds good.
Would the onkyo 601 or 602 sound any better to upgrade.
Any input would be vary helpful.

What's wrong with the one you've got? You think it sounds good so what do you think you are missing?

Chances are, you won't hear a difference in sound between one Onkyo and another as the topologies are very likely the same. As far as wattage goes, remember it takes twice the wattage to affect a 3dB increase, which is hardly noticeable.

A "little" better is an understatement.

If there's a problem with your current sound, it's possible that the amp is running out of juice. In such case, see the last sentence in Speedy's post.

IOW, if you're gonna go for more power, at least double it. Even then, the increase in dynamics will be barely noticable and, even then, only on the peaks. To get an apparant doubling of sound, you need ten, count 'em, TEN times the power.
