I was researching DLP's, etc and tripped over a smoking deal on the 730hdi. Thru 7/24, Good Guys has the 730 for $2999 sealed in the box. A bit bigger than I wanted but seeming too good to pass up. My tv is about 15' from where I sit, so the screen size is probably about right.

Or should I wait for a comparably sized DLP? I can't afford something that big in plasma. The deal expires tomorrow and then it's gone and they'll no longer be selling those.

I've heard only good about the 730hdi, but it sure is a big box.

What to do, given the $3000 budget

p.s. they have the 530 hdi for $2100, which is also pretty darned cheap

I think a tube based projection HDTV is still a better value than LCD or DLP. The contrast ratio on the tube is far better than the LCD or DLP. My friend has a Samsung DLP and I have a tube Mitsubish that is more than 2 years old. I think my tube in better in terms of contrast, details and color. The only thing the Samsung is better is that it has DVI input and it may as result a better PC monitor if one so choice to do so. The Pioneer Elite is an excellent choice for the price. I would go for it if the size is not an issue.
