I was wondering what their picture quality is like as I heard Toshiba will be coming out with a very competitive model that's been getting very good reviews. Also, does Sony plan on coming out with any new models to anyone's knowledge?

Yes I have seen both new Samsungs.

HLP5063
HLP5085

Be very careful when looking at the "New Samsungs." Retailers like Best Buy currently have the HLP5063 which uses the HD3 chipset. The HLP5085 uses the HD2+ which is a significantly better chip (2500:1 vs. 1500:1 contrast ratio).

The HD3 chip was invented by TI to meet the mass volume demands of large retailers, as a result, they are not as high quality as the HD2+ chips. So before you get excited about the "New Samsungs," remember that in a month we will likely see the HLP5085 on the market.

Also, the HLP5085 looks like a flying saucer on a pedestal. Pretty cool design.
