Every time my extended family comes together, it’s almost guaranteed that the evening will end with some sort of game. It doesn’t matter if it starts with casual chatting or dinner, eventually someone suggests cards, and suddenly everyone is at the table. I used to think it was just our tradition, but lately I’ve heard friends say the same about their families. Is there something about these games that makes them the perfect way to end a gathering?

I think so. At one point, I tried to figure out why people consistently prefer these games, and I came across this article: https://techobserver.in/article/andar-bahar-vs-teen-patti-whats-the-difference-315341/. It helped me understand that these games are often chosen because they are inclusive — no long explanations, just quick fun. I’ve seen even the quietest relatives join in once the cards are dealt, and that kind of universal appeal is rare.

From what I’ve noticed, games at gatherings aren’t only about fun but also about creating memories. People laugh at the same jokes, remember past rounds, and talk about it long afterward. That sense of shared experience seems to be the real reason why they’ve become such a staple at family events.
