Toshiba Progressive-Scan Digital Media Server (DVD Player/TiVo DVR Combo)
Model: SD-H400
Toshiba's digital-video dream machine combines a state-of-the art multiformat DVD player with a TiVoŽ Series 2 digital video recorder. Progressive-scan video output (for both functions) delivers eye-popping realism when used with a digital TV.
High-performance multiformat DVD player plays DVD-Video, DVD-R/RW, VCD, CD-DA, CD-R/RW and MP3-CD formats (Note: Not all DVD-R/RW discs are compatible with all DVD-R/RW players. Contact the manufacturer for further compatibility information.)
80-hour TiVo Series 2 digital video recorder with included TiVo Basic Service (upgradable to TiVo Plus and TiVo Home Media Option for additional fees)
Digital Cinema Progressive (with 3-2 pulldown conversion) for both DVD and DVR output, via Super ColorStream Pro component video outputs
They've got it for $200. I've been out of the research game a while. Any bad opinions of this, or reasons not to go the TiVo route or combo route? I don't have a HD TV, so no real need to upgrade to progressive, but it seems like a good deal for the future.
