Hey, I know we all love movies here or we wouldn't be here... but as much as we do love the medium of film I know there are time we just can't sit through one. What film(s) was so bad you just walked out. You couldn't take it, you just had to leave?

1. Whore (1991) - Couldn't make it through the first half hour of this drivel. Walked out feeling dirty.

2. Drum (1976) - Blaxplotation garbage that even I couldn't sit through. Yaphet Kotto gives the performance of his career in this only to be "downstaged' by boxer Ken Norton Sr. Whew, I just had to leave.

3. The Omega Code (1999) - I rented this chite to see what all the fuss was about, ended it less than half the way in.

4. Battlefield Earth (2000) - Couldn't get through the rental, couldn't watch it on free TV, just can't watch it.

5. You Got Served (2004) - My son just had to see this inexcriable pile of chite. I left him in the theatre and went out to play video games.

Well that's all I can think of without getting physically ill.

Only movie I remember walking out on was Ghost in the Machine because it was crap and there was a really smelly homeless guy sitting in fornt of me and my girl. (saw it at a dollar theater where the bums outside would scrounge up a buck to have someplace comfortable to sit down for a couple hours)

I don't go to the theatre very often so I just turned this one off (thankfully I borrowed it and didn't waste any money)

DareDevil......this movie was so lame I turned it off 28 minutes into it. I just couldn't stand it anymore.

Worst movie I've seen on TV had to be ROCK STAR

The plot revolves around a big famous band that looses their singer so figures the best thing to do would be replace him with the lead singer of some cheesy tribute band from Jersey...who just happens to be Marky Mark. It's kinda like if Gene Simmons left Kiss and they decided to grab the guy from Strutter and just go ahead with that.

That thing was the male Showgirls for all intents and purposes. Absolutely horrible. Still, this one's so bad it's hard to stop watching, kinda like a car crash. It's rare that a budget this large gets blown on something so obviously awful from conception all the way through execution. Truly something to behold.

I walked out of the theater twice in my entire life.

Ghostbusters 2.

3 Amigos.

I've turned off countless DVDs and tapes.

Leonard, Part 6 - This was bad, and not a "so bad it was good" sort of bad. What Bill Cosby was thinking when he agreed to star in this nonstarter is beyond me.

Spies Like Us - Unbearably unfunny. Never quite understood the appeal of most Chevy Chase movies, and still don't.

Two of a Kind - Travolta and Newton-John reunited! PLEASE don't ever do this to me again!

Terms of Endearment - Saw this with my parents and couldn't just walk out. So, I did the only thing I could in that situation, I fell asleep! To me, this was just an ugly, cynical, predictable, and insulting movie with no redeeming qualities to it whatsoever. How it beat out The Right Stuff for Best Picture in 1983 is beyond unforgiveable (I haven't watched the Oscars since then).

The Buddy System - Another one of those parental outings where I had to sit and countdown the seconds until the pain stopped. Dreyfus and Sarandon in a romance/tearjerker/comedy/kid-story. Whatever it was, it was a mess of a movie and gawdawful on every count.

And a couple of flicks that I put into the vile category because they are basically bad movies disguised as art house fare. So, they are not only vile movies, but they are self-righteous and pretentious as well. To me, these types of films are more contemptable that mainstream crap that aims low and hits that target. These are films that strikeout, but pretend to aim high so that some people can claim that it has some elusive artistic merit.

Naked - Mike Leigh gets all kinds of acclaim for nonsensical, aimless garbage like this. Here's the point of the film: create a group of negative characters with no redeeming qualities whatsoever and put them into a bunch of random situations that bear little relationship to one another, have them act out and then roll credits. Supposedly, Leigh likes to film without a finished script. Well, he succeeded at conveying that to the audience. Some critics have called it "brilliant" -- I just call it bull****. With these types of films, people sometimes tell me that "I just don't get it" and need to take a more cerebral approach to filmgoing. Well, I think I got it just fine -- I see it for the crap that it is, and they are taking seriously powerful hallucinogens if they actually see merit to self-indulgent nonsense like that!

The Tango Lesson - Pity poor Jane Campion. As if subjecting audiences to The Piano weren't bad enough, she now has to go autobiographical on us. This is the exact type of art house fare that I dispise. It's a lousy, condescending film with no purpose other than to show off Jane Campion The Dancer and insult the audience's intelligence by pretending that it's high minded, when in fact it's just self-absorbed crap. With most dance movies, at least I can pick up a move/pattern or two because they typically include at least some good choreography. But, this movie showcases Campion's dancing, and she's not exactly the type of dancer that I would put on film.

P.S. I actually put "Battlefield Earth" in the "so bad it's good" category. Travolta's overacting was just priceless.

You Got Served I would agree is probably a bad film (actually I haven't had the patience to watch it entirely through myself) but the end parts are interesting of it's own... People doing things with their bodies that seem to defy natural laws of physics is astounding (without using any special effects). You couldn't just hire any actor for this movie... That's the only appreciative aspect of this movie is all... and the dancing!!

Has anyone ever seen a title called Yor? I find that some movies are so awful they're actually worth watching. I've picked up this review from Amazon from someone who understands that:

"This is by far one of the worst films ever constructed by anyone, but it is so awful you'll want to watch it's glorious. splendor over and over again just to relive the crap that it is. Absolutely fake, hilarious, and undeniably a huge joke of a film, Yor, the Hunter from the Future has earned a place in my heart as being so awful, but yet such a great film! My hats off to this movie. If you see this dust-gatherer on the far wall shelf at Blockbuster video and you're in for a laugh, by all means rub off the grime and take a peak."

I really like this review:
"This is probably the best film of the decade. The script is overpowering and emotional, the soundtrack is beyond incredible, and the performances are top-notch. Best Actor for Reb Brown. The direction is also masterful. Ground-breaking special effects. The guy who plays Overlord is an acting genius. A neglected gem that is worth seeing over and over again. 5 stars all the way. Best movie of the '80s."

1) Starship Troopers; Gene therepy must make everyone in the future look like a soap star...and act as well too. Another notch for the beautiful but frighteningly talentless Mrs. Charlie Sheen.

2) Fargo; I know a lot of people loved this but it escapes me why. The only Cohen Bros movie I've liked is Raising Arizona. Told my wife 20 minutes into it, "If I hear 'Yah, you betcha!' one more time, I'm gone." Walked out 30 seconds later.

3) Sorceress; This was a feeble attempt to cash in on the big Conan the Barbarian wave during the early 80's. Kids, there wasn't a sorceress anywhere in the movie, no joke.

4) Lost in Translation; Maybe I'm just not hi-brow enough for movies like this and Fargo, but for the life of me I'm still grasping for the plot to this. Turned it off after an hour.

I couldn't sit through "Panic Room". I even bought the superbit just because it was superbit. Plot synopsis? In the room, out of the room, back in the room, terrible acting by Jared Leto, back out of the room, hit "stop" on your remote.

As much as I like sci-fi, I never quite connected with this movie. My girlfriend at the time was really into Robert Heinlein novels, and made note of a lot of the social context in the original story that was missing from movie. Didn't work as pure escapist entertainment because it had those genocidal subtexts and over-the-top violence, yet it didn't fully flesh out the social commentary in the novel either.

I enjoyed the movie the first time I saw it because I thought it was a quirky little thriller. But, I didn't fully understand a lot of the inside references until I visited Minnesota (yes, people I met over there actually talked like that) and later watched the movie with my former roommate who is originally from Minnesota (grew up in the same Twin Cities suburb as the Coens).

The Godzilla remake with Matthew Broderick. That film was just hideous. Not even so bad it's good like so many Godzilla films; just plain bad.

I tend not to go to the movies much in the summer because most of them are designed for teenagers who play too many video games. Hell, just watching the preview for Van Helsing made me want to walk out of a theater recently!

I rarely go to movies. Rarely did unless I was pretty durn sure I'd like it via friends or reviews. Then, I'm chea enough I would watch almost anything.

But, with a Blockbuster literally around and tons of freebie rentals, I'll rent almost anything at the drop of a hat.

Even though it didn't cost a penny, the two movies that I couldn't sit through were "Tank Girl" and that Mel Gibson remake of some Shakespear play, either Macbeth or Hamlet, I forget which. That's how long it stayed in my player.

That's not counting the others I slept through and never missed...

1. The Devil in Miss Jones - I've watched many times. It's a good story and well done. What porn could be if it had a story and actors....

2. Caligula - You may debate if it's Porn or not but look who produced it....

3. Babylon Pink - I think was it's name. The movie was comprised of the sexual daydreams of bored housewives. Vanessa Del, Rio..... wow!!!!

So there...

Two that my wife and I sat through (at home), but shouldn't have:

"About Schmidt"
"Lost in Translation"

As an artist, I can appreciate some of the directorial talent and acting chops, but they were both fantastically boring, and utterly a waste of time.
Except for every time Nicholson said "Dear Ndugu" in Schmidt. that was funny.

I could not take any more of "Monster's Ball" - kicked the tape out, no regrets, except for seeing as much as I had to that point...

Then there was "Wagging the Dog" - good premise, boring movie, fell asleep.

Years ago, I should have walked out on "The Man Who Fell to Earth" - vile!

"Life of Brian" - VILE!

There are probably more I could mention, but they were so pointless, I don't remember them...

1) Wing Commander - blaararghhh

2)Gigli - blaragrah bleeechhhh!!!

3) You Got Served - wouldn't it be cool, if after a sports team wins a championship, or a playoff round, both captains go to the centre of the court/field/rink/etc and the winning captain says to the loser "You suckas just got served!!!"

4) The End of the Affair..Harrison Ford, I think...can't remember, didn't last long enough.

5) Moulin Rouge - WTF?

6) Freddy Got Fingered - you had to try really hard to laugh at this, no wonder Tom Green has grown up.

7) The Others - See # 5!!!

8) Speed 2 - serves me right

9) Darkness Falls - zzzzzzz

10) And last but not least: "ROCKY F'n 5" - Sly owes us BIG TIME for this crap!

ive never walked out of a movie, but some theatres are just so crappy i cant stand it. a bit ago i was in a cheapy 5 buck theatre watching the last samari. the screen had lines and spots all over it. the worst part though whenever someone talked there was a loud hiss from the dialogue speaker. "centre speaker here" i swear it was probably just some hometheatre in a box.

it had the boxes for the side speakers all up the sides, the kind with the lights on the bottom, but there was nothing in them..... the whole movie sounded like stereo no rear sound at all. and absolutely no bass.

im never going there again ;)

I don't know how you do it. You'd be better off building your own theatre and charging preemo money so folks can hear what a movies SUPPOSED to sound like.

Just a suggestion...

Darkness Falls was about the tooth fairy...sort of....but nothing as grand as the Tooth Fairy flicks of the late 80's and early 90's...those are classics. This was loosely based on those, I guess.
Anyway, I left this after about an hour or so, it just didn't keep me interested.
Maybe I'll give it another shot this weekend...I suppose it could have turned out good.

My sympathies go out to all of you who've been so disgusted by a vile, rotten film that you've decided you had no choice but to get up and walk out (or eject it from the DVD player). Such a thing has never happened to me! Why? Because I'm so easy to please that any piece of crap turned out by Hollywood is worth my time and money to watch? No, not hardly.

It's because I "do my homework" and determine to as near a certainty as possible, whether or not any given film is likely to be something that I will enjoy watching or not. It's as simple as that - I just refuse to "gamble" my time and money on a film that I don't have a clue about. I get disappointed in a film from time to time, but I go out of my way to avoid films that I know I would find vile and rotten, such as ... "Jackass ... the movie". I wouldn't walk across the street and watch such garbage as that for free - even if they were giving away a steak dinner to everyone that could sit through the whole film!

The only movie I ever walked out was "Dawn of the Dead" back in the late 70's. We weren't in the mood to see people biting chunks out of each other's shoulders or getting their heads lopped off by helicopter blades. We went into another theatre room and watched some chick flick in the front row with our necks craned skyward. Not a great day at the movies.

Thankfully, I've successfully avoided...
...Gigli
...Battlefield Earth
...Freddie Got Fingered

...but I did see...
The Piano
Mulholland Drive(l)
and Lost In Translation (disappointing)

Trainspotting was a bore. Fortunately it was a damaged Netflix disc, so about halfway through, it volunteered to keep me from wasting my time with it.

I thought Moulin Rouge was a bore, but the cinematography was outstanding, with some of the richest colors I've ever seen on screen!

Well, if you had bothered to watch the deleted scenes on the DVD, you would have seen where they cut out his wait for a mid-morning flight to Charlotte at the Richmond airport. The director felt that his altercation with the Hare Krishna was too stereotypical and not very politically correct, so they cut that scene. :D

I've only walked out on a big-screen maybe two or three times. Walked out on plenty of home viewings, though.

<b>Freddy Got Fingered</b>: I'm pretty sure this waste of cinema violates the Geneva Convention. <i>Painfully</i> unfunny.
<b>Titanic</b>: Leonardo DiCaprio marked for death.
<b>Battlefield Earth</b>: Watched this expecting a "so bad it's good" moment. So bad it's downright fu<a>cking poor. Gave up after an hour or so.
<b>Bride Of Chucky</b>: Gah.
<b>Dead/Alive</b>: Whoa, Peter Jackson used to be one sick f<a>uck. Got nauseous and had to turn it off.
<b>10 Crazy Nights</b>: The Adam Sandler Christmas movie. Tasteless, stupid, and very unfunny.
<b>Fist Of The North Star</b>: Worst anime I've ever seen.
<b>Pokemon: The Movie</b>: Went with some younger members of my family. Don't even ask.
<b>Pocahontas</b>: See above. It took Disney years to rebound from this misfire. Thank God for Pixar.
<b>Blair Witch Project</b>: Just some idiots running around with $200 cameras and yelling. Not scary in the least.
<b>Speed 2</b>: Wow, I'm sure Willem Dafoe is still shaking his head over this one.
<b>Divine Secrets Of The Ya-Ya Sisterhood</b>: Anyone with a Y chromosome should stay miles away from this horrid spew.
<b>Steel Magnolias</b>: See above.
<b>Star Wars Episodes I & II</b>: I sat through them, but that took some serious effort. What the hell is George Lucas thinking? The very prescence of a character as annoying as Jar-Jar makes me want to break s<a>hit.
<b>Star Trek V</b>: Total Shatner vanity picture. The Golden Rule: Odd-numbered <b>Star Trek</b> movies suck (with the possible exception of <b>III</b>).
<b>Wing Commander</b>: If movies are cheese, this is Limburger after it's been left out in the sun too long and smothered in Velveeta.
<b>Starship Troopers</b>: Well, I liked the social commentary aspect, but the rest sucked--bad acting, bad CGI, <i>really</i> bad action sequences. Are soldiers from a militaristic society really THAT retarded?
<b>Tomb Raider</b>: An action movie is supposed to be an adrenaline rush. Not an utter bore.
<b>The Majestic</b>: It's like a really bad Frank Capra film.

I'm sure there's more, but I can't come up with any at the moment.
