Have you ever picked out a CD to play that you haven't listened to in a long time and are REALLY looking forward to hearing again, and when you open the jewel case.........it's EMPTY!? And you check all your players knowing that it's not gonna be in any of them. And you know it must've gotten stuck in the wrong case, but which one? Probably wound up in one of the hundreds (sometimes I think it might be thousands) of slimline CD-R cases that are stacked up all over the place. I might not luck across it for years! Oh well, guess I didn't really want to hear it THAT much :)

Now playing instead: what do ya get when you mix Chris Whitley with a bunch of great musicians and just for some extra spice, recruit the services of DJ Logic, Bruce Hornsby, Dave Matthews and even his daughter Trixie Whitley? Ya get a damn freakin' good CD, that's what ya get......

Are you saying DJ Logic, Bruce Hornsby, Dave Matthews and even his daughter Trixie Whitley aren't great musicians? :p

As for losing the CDs, that doesn't happen too much around here. If I open a case and there's no disc inside, I pretty much figger it's deep in the bowels of my 10,000-disc changer.

ep <----- never using the ampersand again

I went through a period where I would listen to something leave it in the player then my wife would come along and put the empty CD case back in the bookcase. Then I would come along later with another CD and being far too lazy to put the original back I'd just pop it the now empty case thinking I'll sort it out later....fatal. I once had to backtrack through about half a dozen CD's to get to the one I wanted.

Still I learned my lesson and divorced the woman, a bit harsh maybe but it solved the problem.

Not playing anything right now but earlier today I listened to Air - Talkie Walkie, what a gorgeous little album for those that way inclined. Certainly soothes the traffic chaos on the way into work.

Cheers
Mike

I would think that this is one case where downloading it would be legitimate.

same thing happened to me with FREE MARS by the band (project really) Lusk. They were sort of a supergroup made up of folks invoved with Failure, Medicine and Tool. Great album. I've been wanting to use cuts offa that for comps I've made, but it's been missing in action since about February 2002 when I put a track from there on one of my comps. Been gone ever since. Got the case, no cd. It's a cut-out special, I know I could buy it on half.com for a few bucks. I suppose one day I'll get desparate and do that. It just kind of burns me. I swear I've been through every single cd in the house looking for it. Oh, I guess it didn't help that I had a move in there ;)

I've had the same empty-case thing happen to me. It wasn't not having the music so much as me obsessing over knowing it was somewhere in my collection, and I had to find it. It took me having to look in every freaking case, but I found it, (with only about 25 CDs left to look in!)

As for the Whitley CD, I've held that in the music stores many times, but never brought it up to the cashier. I saw him at tiny, little Maxwell's in Hoboken many years ago. Great show.

That happened to me a couple of weeks ago and I found the disk yesterday! In my case, I knew where the disk was....it was in the fanny pack kind-of case that I use to strap my portable CD player to me when I work out or go for walks.

The problem was, I've been using the CD player hooked up to speakers in my office and I, for the life of me, could not find where I put the damn fanny pack! I finally found it yesterday, hidden under some papers.

But, now that I've finally found it, I'm no longer in the mood to listen to that disk. :(

And that's from one of my friends??!! Oh well, when your life has turned to shit, it can only get better, right?

BTW, I was listening to your Oddly Enough comp earlier today and that is one of the absolute worst abuses of a CD-R that I've ever heard. Nice job! ;)

Don't listen to Pinch Phallus. He's all about the sticky residue.
