Return To Sin City, A Tribute To Gram Parsons

Our friends at Sin City are putting together a Gram Parsons tribute
concert on July 9th at the Santa Barbara Bowl and July 10th at the
Universal Amphitheatre in LA. Special guests include our very own Lucinda Williams plus Norah Jones, Steve Earle, eastmountainsouth, Dwight Yoakam, Kathleen Edwards, Jim Lauderdale, Raul Malo, Jim James, John Doe, Jay Farrar and Susan Marshall. For information on this event, visit: www.gramparsonstribute.com

I don't know all the dudes es dudettes, but the ones I do are looking pretty good. Prolly do without Yoakum but if hes the most countri-est of the group, thats not bad at all. Plus, its put on by Sin City, whoever the heck they are, so it must be good.

I bet you would go just about anywhere there was music and drinks! Yeah, guess I would too :)

I don't know, looks good but some odd inclusions.......and where's Emmylou? And what does Norah Jones got to do with the legacy of GP? I've said it many times before, one of the best tribute albums of all-time is the Return of the Grievous Angel which was lovingly produced by Emmylou Harris and icludes the stellar cast of.....

1. She (Pretenders & Emmylou Harris)
2. Ooh Las Vegas (Cowboy Junkies)
3. Sin City (Beck & Emmylou Harris)
4. $1,000 Wedding (Evan Dando & Julianna Hatfield)
5. Hot Burrito #1 (The Mavericks)
6. High Fashion Queen (Chris Hillman & Steve Earle)
7. Juanita (Sheryl Crow & Emmylou Harris)
8. Sleepless Nights (Elvis Costello)
9. Return Of The Grievous Angel (Lucinda Williams & David Crosby)
10. One Hundred Years From Now (Wilco)
11. A Song For You (Whiskeytown)
12. Hickory Wind (Gillian Welch)
13. In My Hour Of Darkness (The Rolling Creekdippers)

But I do miss California! The Santa Barbara area is very nice. I could be hanging out on the beach down there at the end of State Street right now........instead, I'm not :(

BTW, you've made a bunch of fun to read posts lately. Love the concert reviews and all the extra behind the scenes stuff too. Thanks http://forums.audioreview.com/images/icons/icon14.gif

Nice avatar! I have a couple of those stickers- I would have used one, had I thought of it first.

It's five o'clock somewhere.

Please tell me this isn't an Alan Jackson and/or Jimmy Buffet reference.

yea, Grievous Angel was a great album. Maybe Emmylou had some prior commitments?

SB is indeed a cool area. Only was there once (actually stayed in Ventura as I was there on bidness). Went up the coast to visit and loved it. Actually, in Ventura, we found a place, that everbuddy in Calif. prolly knows about called maria's Beachfront Cafe that made the best mrgrtas I've ever had or have had since. Made with Patron, Cointreau, and sweet/sour mix they got from Mexico. Oh yea, good food to go with it and very and lots of talent on display.

Thnx for the kind words. Its easy to do a fun post when you've been energized by a band that gave a lot more than it took or ya been hanging with the swishes
