Decided to browse a couple of local record shops last night - we have both Bull Moose and Newbury Comics in the area, and Bull Moose stays open until midnight. Managed a few bargain finds:
Bob Dylan Basement Tapes Raw - this 3 lp / 2cd box set was on sale for under $37. Great packaging, including a full size 25 page booklet. I plan to listen to these tomorrow morning.
Going Back Home - Wilko Johnson (Dr Feelgood) and Roger Daltry team up for a very hard driving blues/rock effort on the Chess label. Daltry's voice has morphed in a rather odd transformation at age 70, but this is, nonetheless, a strong album apparently looking for an audience, as Bull Moose was selling new copies for $5.74! Clean, flat and quiet vinyl.
Rough Mix - Pete Townshend and Ronnie Lane. New, still sealed copy circa 1983. ATCO label - probably a Canadian edition. Perfect vinyl - flat and quiet. Ths is a great collaboration album and one of Townshend's first solo efforts. a few cuts with Clapton on guitar. More English folk rock with a bit of Who thrown in the mix. At $7 this was a lucky find.
All told. $50 poorer, but musically much richer.
