Realistic STA-2270 receiver

I have one that's in exceptional condition.. Except..

The volume control cuts in ands out and is scratchy. I tried the spray cleaner with no luck.

Any one know of a reputable place that could replace the pot and do a thorough inspection of the unit? (East Central Iowa.)

I have read about routine replacement of the Caps. How d I know I need to do that?

Other than the faulty VC, the unit sounds awesome.

Welcome to AR. My first receiver was a Realistic, I think ST78. I'm not in your area so don't know who to refer you to.

I wouldn't think a fix of volume control would cost so much but when you are talking recapping etc. I'd think about how much it's worth to get the unit running optimumly. $300.00 or so will begin to get you into some nice new options.
