My favorite Rod Stewart albums - perhaps in my top 10 favorite albums of all time. Just picked up Mobile Fidelity reissue LP's. While these reissues are not the albums I would use to impress my friends with the audio superiority of vinyl ( not trying to start a fight here), nonetheless, both are inspired albums with the combination of Rod's raspy vocals and Ronnie Wood's guitar. Like many British musicians of the era, they dip their toes in many genres, all with strong American influences from folk to country to blues to spirituals to hard rock, with songs penned by Bobby Womack, Dylan, Arthur "Big Boy" Crudup, Tim Harden and Elton John among others. If you have copies, pull em out and give a listen.

The only Rod Stewart that I have is on the first Jeff Beck album called "Truth". Maybe it's Jeff's guitar work that makes Rod's voice tolerable. I find most of his material too poppy, for lack of a better word. To each is own as it's takes all kinds to make the world go round. Enjoy.
