I learned of Regina Carter from an article in Stereophile. Her musical interests and perspectives intrigued me and who would not enjoy a jazz violinist. I learned that she was coming to a local college for a concert.

She appeared at the school's chapel which has good acoustics. The band consisted of guitar, double bass, drums, accordian and of course Regina playing violin. It was great hearing live music again.

The album is music from her families' roots and other musical influences from the Appalachian area. A great concert and a beautiful cd. If you like a mixture of jazz and roots music you would enjoy this recording.

If anyone else is familiar with her music I am looking for more of her music and wondered what might be my next purchase. I certainly want to hear more from this very talented artist.

I've never heard anything she's done, but allmusic says that she's "the most significant violinist in jazz since Jon-Luc Ponty in the late '60s."

Allmusic's got her discs listed, and there are quite a few they rate pretty highly. Regina Carter | Biography, Albums, & Streaming Radio | AllMusic (http://www.allmusic.com/artist/regina-carter-mn0000386880)

Might have to check her out, thanks.
