our church or communtiy center is pretty small. We have an average of 30 people on a regular Sunday and about 100 people on an event. I am looking for the best and cheapest audio system that is suitable for our gatherings. Our budget is about $1500. I am looking for your suggestions on the best system that will provide the followings:
1. two speakers w/ their stands
2. wired microphone with its stand and clipper.
3. Wireless microphone (for people to ask questions)
4. Mixer for both microphone channels
5. (optional) built in recording if possible.

There are PA type speakers with built in amplification that might work for you from brands like Numark. I have one, it has two 1/4" input with volume, but these may not have the recording features etc. When I looked there were a few brands with an average price of around $400.00. Then you'd need the stands and mics. You can actually get some decent mics from Radio Shack. The speakers have built in handles though which is nice for portability.
Another way to go and I'm not sure on pricing would be a powered mixer. This would have the amp built in and you just hook up the speakers. I haven't looked at these in years so not sure if any have built in recording, I doubt it since the mediums for recording seem to change often these days.

The powered PA speaker route looks like it might be the best option for you. I am not sure how big of sound you want but there is a website called American Musical Supply that has a lot of powered and unpowered speakers as well as mixer boards and powered mixers. At least this will give you an idea of whats out there for the money. I would say a JBL or QSC product would be very good and Peavey aren't bad when money is tight. Also check the used market in your area at pawn shops or used dealers, Bands that break up or clubs that close down are unloading this kind of gear all the time and they can be had much cheaper going this route just make sure the stuff is in good shape.

For what it's worth, there's a good chance you won't need two speakers in the first place. Instead of two mediocre speakers, do yourself a favour and get one good one.
A Beta 58, Mackie ProFX8, Yorkville NX55P, Hercules crank stand, a 50' cable, a 10' cable, two short power cords, a 25' extension cord, and that's it if I were sending you out with gear from MY inventory. You can also get help with create a jingle (https://faze1audio.com/what-we-do/jingle-creation/).
That's about $1000 in high-quality gear. The ProFX8 is tiny, but it has enough controls to help you reduce feedback in bad rooms and plug in your phone for walk-on music or whatever else you want to do.
