ConsumerReports publication has issued a press release that reveals its top HDTV picks for watching the Super Bowl. the magazine (http://www.consumerreports.org/cro/news/2014/01/10-all-pro-tvs-for-watching-super-bowl-xlviii/index.htm) says its four 'top performers' for watching the big game are:

LG Electronics 60LA8600 60-Inch LED for $2299. CR says the set, model 60LA8600, features "excellent high-def picture quality" and "effective motion blur reduction performance." The publication adds that it was its top-rated LCD/LED set for 2013.

Samsung 60-inch Smart Plasma PN60F8500 for $2299. CR writes that the Plasma TV, model PN60F8500, is "one of the brightest" Plasma sets it has ever tested. The pub adds that it features "excellent High-Definition picture quality" and includes Smart TV features.

Sony 65-inch 4K 3D Ultra HD TV model XBR-65X900A for $5000. The Sony set, model XBR-65X900A, has "excellent high-definition picture quality" and "incredible picture detail," the publication writes. CR adds that it also features one of the best sound systems it's ever tested.

If those four sets seem too pricey for you, Consumer Reports also names three sets as offering the 'best value":

Vizio 60-inch E601i-A3 Smart LED, priced under $1,000.
Samsung 60-inch PN60F5300 Plasma TV, for under $1,000.
Sony 60-inch KDL-60R550A Smart LED TV, priced at $1,369.
