First off, I know nothing about audio equipment or the technology involved. I am just a middle aged woman who wants an above average portable speaker to follow me where ever I go. I am looking to spend $100-$150. Had it narrowed down to a UE Mini Boom or a JBL Charge and then I came across vibration speakers (Mighty Dwarf etc.) I can find nothing that compares vibration speakers to regular speakers in terms of sound quality and volume . I admit I like to crank it up but killer bass is not a requirement. I like to enjoy the sound rather than the feel of the music. Anyway what are your thoughts on the vibration speakers. Thanks in advance for any advice or insight you can offer me.

What is your source? What type of connections are available (bluetooth, wired, etc)?

I am actually going to connect my ipod or MP3 player directly to the speaker, but I want the bluetooth feature so that I can hear and answer my phone if someone calls. I hope that answers your question.

All I am really asking is "Has anyone heard a portable vibration speaker and if so how does the sound quality compare to your average portable speaker? Are these speakers just a gimmick to entertain your friends or is this technology viable for improved sound quality.

I havent heard the Vibration speakers but the reviews are mixed.

Read this CNET review on the JBL Charge and others. The charge has good reviews.

I made my choices based on reviews I saw, but anytime they review the vibration speakers they seem to focus on explaining the technology as opposed to the sound quality other than the fact that they are "thumping loudly". And I have no idea if " a frequency response of 50Hz to 18kHz " is good or not. I appreciate the input anyway.

I have come to the conclusion they are more of a novelty. Sound varies depending on what you set it on. Other than being omnidirectional I don't see any advantages sound wise.
