Wishing all my colleagues here at the RR board a new year with abundant good music.
2013 was good, not great.

I'm old so I still think the greatest 15-year period for rock music is 1967 - 1982.........unbelieveable.
There have been a few gems each year since that time, but with much less artistic frequency.

Happy New Year.

I agree ... 1967-1982 is a great period for rock music.
I think 1962 -1966 can be added to this period as well. De first records of the Beatles, Stones, Kinks, Byrds, Dylan etc.

I cannot disagree -- those early rock records were great fun.

But 1967 brought us "The Summer of Love".

Released in that year were the following................

Surrealistic Pillow
Absolutely Free
Disraeli Gears
The Piper at the Gates of Dawn
The Who Sell Out
Procol Harum
Big Brother and the Holding Company
The Doors (original)
Days of Future Past
Are You Experienced
Sgt. Pepper's

Can you believe all the new music came out at the same time ?
And all of it was NOT what we had been listening to during '62 - '66.
And we also saw Monterey Pop...........the first festival...........

Amazing............life changing...........for me anyway !

Well, I'm pretty old too, but I think there is still great music being recorded in every decade since the 60's, and I'm going to keep buying fresh music until I'm six feet under.

I'm with MC on this one. But that was my era of music. A coming of age so to speak. I hit Woodstock and my life changed. All this new music was hitting me all at once. Every time I would go to somebody's house to listen to music, it was new and exciting. I would go to the record shop on the weekend and come home with 5 or 6 new albums. Now I go online to HD Tracks or Acoustic Sounds and download something. I wish I could take my present stereo back in time to those days of the late 60's early 70's when my hearing was much sharper.

That works for me, the majority of my records and cds are from then, but I would tweek in just a bit and go with 1969 - 1984...
