Hello all from phoenix az. I was just curious to see how my receiver and speakers from 1978, measure up to whats new these days. will be looking at the different forums.
Hello and welcome. Not too many Vintage minded here but still a few. As for your question, it's going to depend on brand, price range, and several other factors. My stuff is early 90s.

If you are looking for opinions, just ask. I looked at your profile, but didn't see the hardware you're talking about. List your items. I still have a few items from the 70s, but not many.

O.K. I have a Sansui G-9700 Receiver, ( 200 watts per channel ), also ( 4 ) Pioneer H.P.M. 150 Speakers. I Bought Them all New in 1978. I paid Around $3,300 For everything. Are these looked at like 8 track tapes these days? or are they still respected versus the new equipment? T.Y.

The Sansui G-9700 is one of the very impressive, top-of-line era Sansui made in the interval. These receivers are desirable among collectors still have pretty good resale value on eBay, etc. If yours is still in good shape, Congradulations!

I'm a Luxman fan, and I've heard many newer high end amps, and I find my Lux to to be quite comparable to them.

are you still interested in selling your g-9700? I bought mine in 1984 while at Travis AFB. It blew a circuit board about 6 months ago so I'm constantly looking for a replacement. steve
