It was late and all the brain cells weren't working. I just heard Triumph on Classic Vinyl XM radio too.

My order would be Trower-Mountain-Hendrix-Cream

Problem is, none of them were the same band from the beginning to the end, Triumph was.

The Police

I agree. They projected a sound that sounded more than three member band. Its probably a toss up between Rush and The Police.

I also question Jimi Hendrix as a trio band. There was too much spot light on him for other members of band to be noticed.

The Jam is on my list - probably at or near the top

Rush. It's Rush. You can stop voting now. Any other answer is wrong.

Lol, Green Day? They have a keyboard player, second guitarist & a cello player when they play live. Come to think of it, so does Rush. And after reading about Ginger Baker, doesn't he count as 3 or 4 people? And Leslie West (Mountain) surely counts as 2 or 3 people.

Rush do not use other musicians in their live shows. They do use a lot of sampling, but they play and record all of their own samples.

You can't be a power trio when your lead singer is from the Chipmunks.

Leslie West counts as two Guitarists....not two people.

Just spinning Trioscapes, thanks.

I guess I am questioning how you can be the BEST Power Trio if from beginning to end the band did not contain the exact same 3 players. Trower had 2 different bass players for example.

I see..............I'm pretty sure, in it's short life, that CREAM had the same 3 players.
I actually saw the farewell tour in 1968 in Dallas and it was Clapton, Bruce and Baker.

No disagreements on the others.............or the opinion.

The Police

I love The Police..............they broke new ground in their day.
But I can't place them in the category of POWER TRIO.
POWER TRIOS don't play reggae rythyms..............doesn't fit.
POWER TRIOS kick your a$$ with rock !
