Hello all. I wanted to make an investment for my studio apartment, and thought that I would come here for your advice.

Is there any sound system out there for less or around $1,000 that can provide audio for my HD TV, IMAC, and IPAD (IMAC & IPAD wirelessly/bluetooth)?

I don't mind wires from the sound system to the TV, but I don't want to have to keep changing the wires when I want to use the sound system with other devices.

Thanks in advanced!
Ryan

You can get home theater receivers that are compatible with Apple products for wireless streaming and then add a couple speakers, off the top of my head i don't have a particular model. I suspect even some of the more feature packed Sound Bars would be as well. You can hook your sources into either and switch with the remote, your TV would basically just be a monitor at that point.

Are you wanting only stereo sound or do you eventually want a multi-channel system?

My downstairs system is stereo only. I now have a Cambridge Audio 651A Integrated amp ($800), two old JBL L80t floor-standing speakers (I found a really nice pair for $260 a few months ago) and a Micromega MyDAC (about $350, I think) that would do what you ask, but costs a little more than what you want to spend. You can spend less on the integrated, but the thing I like most about the MyDAC is that it has optical, coax digital and USB inputs that can be simply switched between the TV, my old Bluray and a laptop.

I recently added an Apple TV ($100) to eliminate the wires between the equipment and the coffee table and now don't need the USB input because I can stream wirelessly directly to the Apple TV. As a bonus, the iPad, iPhone and iPod Touch all make pretty slick remotes. All of that, not counting the old bluray player, cost me about $1600 plus cables.

Works for me,

Here is a Pioneer AVR that will do the job-

VSX-822-K - 5.1-Channel 3D Ready A/V Receiver | Pioneer Electronics USA (http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/PUSA/Home/AV-Receivers/Pioneer+Receivers/VSX-822-K)

Here is a Denon-

Here are a few good speakers for music and HT. I just bought a pair of these Definitive Technology Promonitor 1000 speakers for HT use in a 2.1 system for my new TV. They sound great with music. They have crisp and clear dialog, excellent bass and midrange, image extremely well and present a huge sound stage for their size and they have a very small foot print. Don't let their size fool you, they sound like a floor stander.

promonitor 1000 at Crutchfield.com (http://www.crutchfield.com/S-u0dYVg5KKK5/shopsearch/promonitor_1000.html?awcp=1t1&awcr=5208200363&awdv=c&awkw=promonitor%201000&awmt=p&awnw=g)

Here are a few other good speakers-

These are actually B-stock speakers. I bought 2 pair from them with no problems.

With the B6's you can get by without a subwoofer unless you absolutely must have one.

The B5's will need a sub. Take a look at Vanns.com they have a nice 8" Energy Sub onsale.
